Darts team ready for Region V champs

In addition to producing positive results, darts has influenced positive mindset on players.  

President of Botswana Darts Association (BODA), Buyani Zongwane said darts enhanced minds and developed players’ intellectual ability to deliver smart decisions.

Speaking at a sendoff ceremony of the 29-member national dart team on Friday, Zongwane said the team was scheduled to compete Region V Championships hosted by Namibia.  
The team left yesterday and competition starts tomorrow.

Zongwane implored the team to go into the championships with the resilience they were known for.

“Go and display the resilience you had displayed while preparing for the competition,” said Zongwane.

Additionally, Zongwane said the sporting code was categorised as one of those with low impact and therefore the team had to disprove the misconception by raising the bar.

He, therefore, said good results and performance were the game changers in influencing the code to be regarded as of high impact.

Despite traversing challenges, among them holding the national team league without a sponsor, Zongwane said the code had nonetheless persevered.  

He said darts was an impact sport and resonated well with the pursuit of establishing a knowledge based economy.

Meanwhile, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) has applauded the association of remaining strong, despite challenges.  BNSC executive assistant to the CEO, Tumisang Hule, applauded BODA for holding on, despite the little or no resources.

Hule implored sports codes to emulate the resilience and dedication displayed by BODA.

The national team was equally applauded for retaining veterans’ players as they were needed for impacting skills and experience to the young players.

He said such strategy was good for enhancing performance and ultimately attaining good results.

Furthermore, Hule expressed gratitude to companies such as Morupule Coal Mine and Premier Clothing who partnered with BODA national team.

He said their support and partnership was an indication that darts was a valuable sport.

He additionally wished the athletes well in the competitions saying their experience will power their mental being as it was crucial ingredient to do well in championship.

Hule expressed confidence in the team saying they are destined to do better.

He further reminded them to be good ambassadors while in Namibia and embody the principle of Botho which Botswana is known for. ENDS
