 Mrs African World Botswana will host a fashion show entailing Top 10 finalists at Cresta Lodge on Saturday.

The weekend event is an activation for the grand finale slated for October 1.

In an interview yesterday, one of the directors, Thato Monei said the contestants would have the opportunity to showcase the designs by six upcoming Botswana designers.

The local designers, she said, included ND Crocheting, Feura, Kael Couture&Fashion Tips, Glass Creations and Basadi ba Tlhwatlhwa.

The director said the  build-up activities that have already taken place included workshops in the previous months and they had so far hosted women empowerment event, where one of the attendees walked away with P5 000 prize money through a competition that was run at the event.

“We have had a personal branding and public speaking workshop with a public speaker Pako Moshaga to empower the contestants on public speaking, their image and presentation,” she said.

The contestants also had a makeup tutorial by Nora Cosmetics and Modelling technique sessions, while etiquette and fashion choreography was done by One Segobye of Beauty Hub Academy.

To prepare for the grand finale she also said next month, the aspiring beauty queens would be working on their charity projects, which they would have to present during pre-judging session at the bootcamp.

 Monei and Jennifer Setapenyane birthed the pageant in 2019, and were granted the Mrs African World Botswana license by its holder in America, in 2021.

The winner will walk away with P20 000 and will represent Botswana in Las Vegas, USA, later in the year.

The pageant is an international charity-oriented brand that helps women to inspire others to tackle issues they face and promote cultural diversity. ENDS
