Dog horse races for Segwaragwara

Segwaragwara, near Lorolwane in the Southern District, will on Saturday host dog and horse races dubbed Dr Dikoloti Classics.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, event’s spokesperson, Rodrick Mogotsi, said they were expecting many people to attend since the races had always attracted sizeable crowd.
“I am confident dog and horse races would make an incredible impact on the masses. We are dedicated to bringing together communities, cultures and industries to experience the beauty of races and as people mingle they transpose ideas that can take the country to another level,” he said.
He said, through the races, they intended to unite people of different social backgrounds and cultures.
He said sport activities could lure tourists into the area to see the picturesque topography of the region.
Mogotsi said such sport activities were aimed at unearthing raw talent in the constituency.
He said they were expecting to have 50 dogs competing in 10 races and 200 horses competing in 14 categories.
Mogotsi said business people were also expected to tap into the opportunity to grow their businesses as stalls would be free.
He said COVID 19 protocols would be observed and security would be very tight, adding they had engaged a private security and Botswana Police Service officers would be on ground to ensure safety of spectators and their property.
The spokesperson said parking space would be plenty as it was an open space thus urging people to come in large numbers to enjoy dog and horse races that he promises would be a thriller and spectators would get the value of their time.
He said expectation was to finish the event on the same day but likely to be extended to Sunday due to some unforeseen circumstances. Ends
