The Zebras will leave Durban, South Africa at the end of Hollywood Bets COSAFA Cup with their heads held high.
Add to that, the fact that some of the players will be hoping talent scouts will call their teams to inquire about their availability after an outstanding display at the tournament.
Forget that they have failed to advance to the semi-finals after losing 5-4 against Chipolopolo of Zambia through a penalty shoot-out.
The Zebras accounted well for themselves and did not reach the semi-final stage by fluke.
Zebras beat all the three teams in their group; namely Comoros, Seychelles and Angola by a 1-0 margin to advance to the next level.
Coach Mogomotsi Mpote said he was happy with his player’s performance throughout the tournament.
The gaffer said they would be playing in the plate semifinals on Friday July 15, adding that their intension was to bring something home.
“If the players can continue with their hard work, I am confident that they would ultimately win the plate.”
The Zebras were fatigued against Chipolopolo in the quarterfinals and faced a fresh Zambia, which only started the competition in the semi-finals after being seeded.
“Although they were fresh, we managed to take them head-on in the second half looking for a goal, but I must admit we did not play very well in the first half,” he said.
According to COSAFA regulations, winners of the quarterfinals matches advance to the semi-finals and ultimately to the 3rd/4th classification or final.
The losers of the quarterfinal matches advance to the plate semi-finals, with winners advancing to the final. BOPA
