The author of Little Ngwana Stories, Lesedi Gaeemelwe has recently returned from India, where she received an honorary doctorate from the International Internship University. The doctorate is in recognition of her book, which is a collection of Christian stories, with messages of hope and love of Jesus Christ. The book has already received two awards.

In an interview with BOPA on Monday, the Mulher Forte African Literature award holder, said she was deeply honoured to receive such an award. Dr Gaeemelwe said the award, which she received in March, had spurred her to continue writing  children’s books.

She said she had submitted her credentials, accolades and contribution to the society for the book: Little Ngwana Stories; to receive the doctorate.

Dr Gaeemelwe said the award assured her that she was without a doubt a professional and an expert in what she loved doing, which is children’s entertainment.

The 37-year-old said she had the opportunity to be part of the future education summit panel discussion where she was the only African speaker.

“I had my first speaking engagement as a Dr with Young Women Christian Association teenage girls,” she said.

The Business studies teacher at Kgale Hill junior secondary school said she was also elated to learn that the Bible Society of India was currently working on the Hindu translation of her book. ENDS
