Bonfire perfect opportunity to network

01 Jun 2022

It is the flickering light, cracking sound of burning kindlings, warmth of the glowing wood and distinctive smell of roast pork that makes being around the camp extremely fantastic.

Such was Kanye’s Wena Tented Camp general manager, Pono Hansen’s description of the resort’s newest offering, bonfire sessions.

The resort has, this winter, added to its menu, bonfire sessions as a way of creating a networking opportunity for people to meet and not be deterred by the chilly weather.

Located near Mmakgodumo Dam in Kanye, the facility introduced the bonfire session to create a relaxing ambience and facilitate  meaningful interactions busking in the warmth of the crackling of fire.

In a recent interview, Hansen said the whole concept was to create a networking environment for mature people to stay outside while engaging in various conversations on matters of interest.

“The vision behind is to promote interaction with a purpose, with the understanding that since COVID-19, people have been confined indoors with minimal contact with others,” said the manager of the entity offers chalet accomodation. Hansen said the idea was to attract people from the corporate world and create a flawless ambiance for them since currently most entertainment places catered for the youth.

“With the advent of challenges varying from the soaring prices of fuel and other commodities, we feel that it is critical for people to relax, warm up, engage [without worrying about]  those cost,” he said.

He said such interactions helped patrons exchange contacts for future deals, as they could call one another, thereby reducing the cost of doing business that was usually incurred through moving from around in search of information, services and clients.

“We create memorable moments in our monthly bonfire sessions, as we also provide our customers with roasted pork,” he said.

Regulars, he said, can also look forward to a soon to be introduced wine-tasting event, where there will also be stalls for flee marketers to come and sell their stock without having to part with a cent.

Hansen said such an arrangement would create an enabling hub for the traders to market themselves.

“Our vision is to introduce people to the idea that they can also go out and have fun during winter,” he said.

He expressed desire for partnership with other stakeholders in order to successfully ‘go big’ with such concepts as flee markerters’ day. ends
