Car spinning fanatics are expected to throng Mmamashia KC12 arena on Saturday as Botswana and international car spinners showcasing their spinning prowess.

The inaugural car spinning championship codenamed The SADC Burn Out Fiesta is hosted by Botswana Spinmasters.

In an interview, Botswana Spinmasters chairperson, Thuso Mudongo, said they were impressed by the level of preparations ahead of the championships that would see seven SADC countries take part.

Mudongo said they had also invited the Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture to appreciate rowth of the sport and its related spin off opportunities.

High commissioners of the countries represented have also been invited. He said they had put together logistics to offer a more exciting contest, adding that the competition was in three classes of national intermediary, national professional and the open international.

The fiesta is expected to attract reputable spinners headlining the list being veteran king of spin Edward Campher fondly known as Eddie Rasta.

The Cape Town born spinner has been to Botswana several times and drew massive support for his great performances behind his Mk2 Ford Cortina laced with a Ford V6 engine.

One of the international acts likely to draw much attention is Namibian spin master, Peter Opali, popularly known as Most Wanted.

Other entertaining guests will be Team Ice Motors from Zimbabwe, Seisa of Lesotho and Stupid Crew of eSwatini.

The local boys will bet their last coins on the likes of Mothusi Alfred (Northside Crew), Thabo Mudongo (BWSpinmasters), Given Stephen (Ghetto Child) and Kagiso Nkwebi of team block 8.

The spinners will tear up tyres while performing incredible stunts such as snake, doughnut, tyre bounce, power slide, free style, figure 8 and roll back packing among others.

Spinning in Botswana has grown from leaps and bounds making it the second biggest motorsport in the country after the legendary Toyota Desert Race. Since its introduction local motorsport fans have embraced the sport.  ENDS
