22 May 2022

Cyclists who endured the 600km Komatsu AM600 Cycling challenge have been applauded for their endurance and dedication to the charity ride.

The riders completed the three-day cycling challenge on Saturday after riding from Jwaneng via Lobatse to Gaborone then Mahalapye and back to Gaborone.

Cyclists were led by First Lady Neo Masisi from Gaborone to Mahalapye for 20km.

“I am more determined than ever to ensure that we reach the less privileged members of our communities through this corporate social investment project,” Komatsu Botswana managing director,  Martin

Cowley, said during the welcome ceremony in Gaborone on Saturday.

He said the Komatsu AM600 cycling challenge was a collaboration of corporates and cyclists.

He applauded women riders, who participated in the cycling challenges saying they were the epitome of encouragement for the girl child to venture into the sport of cycling.

He said youth constantly looked for ways in which they could better the lives of society, therefore, this initiative could be an excellent example to benchmark from.

Komatsu Botswana human resource manager, Basadi Pheto, applauded cyclists for their dedication to the charity ride.

“The excitement is induced by the anticipation of all the projects we are about to embark on as we all work together to improve the lives of the less privileged members of society,” Pheto said.

Pheto said in the next coming months, the organising team would embark on a series of events that would eventually lead to the completion of envisaged projects among others, handing over cheques to beneficiaries and other projects.

She expressed gratitude to sponsors, partners and cyclists for a collaborative effort in improving the lives of the communities through the cycling sport.  ENDS
