Nico return to elite league

Nico United gained automatic promotion to the premier league after sharing spoils with Maun Terrors on Saturday.
Both teams failed to score in a Debswana First Division North encounter. Nico aka Majombolo needed a point to clinch the title with three games left to end the season.
Majombolo was relegated to the first division in the 2016/17 season, the same year their main sponsor, the BCL Mine folded.
Nico’s intentions of returning to the premier league were evident from commencement of the season.
They have now won 12 out of 18 games, lost one and drew five thus accumulating 42 points.
Bottom-placed Terrors gave the Selebi Phikwe side a hard time thwarting all their scoring opportunities t.
It was evident that the host’s goal minder Emmanuel Keiditswe was not going to allow the visitors’ to dishonor him in his home ground.
He pulled off a number of good saves to hold Nico to a goalless draw earning his team a point even though that did not make any difference in their log standing.
After the recess, Terrors came with a plan to contain their opponents in the middle and it worked.
Terrors have managed to win two games, lost 12 and drew four.
Nico’s coach, Botshelo Pelokgosi thanked the players, club’s management and supporters for a job well done.
He was happy to have realised the mission of being promoted to the elite league.
The mission, he said, was to finish all their games without a loss, adding that he was happy that the boys did not disappoint even though they lost few games.
“My boys have worked hard, held to our plan from the beginning and acquitted themselves well, hence managing to accomplish our mission.
Now we are left with three games and we are not going to take them lightly, but instead we will use them as preparation for the next season in the major league,” he added.
While admitting that their opponents gave them a hard time, Pelokgosi said players remained humble and focused.
He vowed to maintain their position in the premier league adding that teams should expect a stiff competition from the copper nickel mining town side.
Terrors assistant coach, Kenanao Abram, thanked his players for doing their best to stop Nico from collecting maximum points.
The plan, he said, was to contain Nico’s middle-field, a task his boys executed well.
Abram said they still had a chance to bounce back as they had three games remaining.
He said they just needed maximum points in the remaining fixtures to confirm their status in the first division north league. BOPA
