FC Legends no show disadvantages Geronah plans

08 May 2022

A game between FC Legends and Geronah was called off after the former reported late for a division two women’s league clash scheduled for Lekidi Saturday.

Geronah, which are coached by Gaoletlhoo Nkutwisang, reported early for the fixture, took their warm-up drill till sweat dried on their jersey’s but their opponents were nowhere to be found.

It was only after the referee called off the match that some FC Legends players arrived in batches and still could not complete a team

Their coach, Victor Tshambane, said in an interview that some of his players were school going, most of whom attended Saturday studies while some were workers who found it difficult to honour fixtures, more especially in the morning.

“I have long told the region that they should consider fixturing us in the afternoon as morning fixtures are not favourable for my team,” he said.

Nkutwisang, on one hand, said the calling off had disadvantaged her team because they had prepared well during the week with limited resources.

She said last week her team played to a one-all draw against Gaborone United and players were looking forward to the weekend game.

Furthermore, she said the cancellation impacted negatively on the national teams because it was during the games where different national team coaches got an opportunity to scout for players.

She, however, said this would not dampen her players sprits, but would go and prepare for the coming fixtures.

“It is not anything new, women’s team are really struggling to assemble their teams, we are faced with many challenges, and when a team is made up of students ,there is nothing one can do,” she said.

In other games, Untouchable beat Vicomates 4-1 while FC Ambassadors had a field day winning 10-0 against Ginomai. ENDS
