Collabo Girls club appeal for support

Zodiac Collabo Girls have appealed to the community to help the Lobatse-based team achieve its mission of empowering the girl-child through participation in sport.
The team’s public relations officer, Omphemetse Mmolai, made the plea during the club’s annual fundraising raffle draw on Wednesday.
Mmolai said the club was struggling financially due to lack of sponsors. She pointed that the management therefore last year came up with the idea of staging a raffle competition annually to raise funds.
“We have been running this year’s raffle competition for the past two months. The raffle competition is an initiative by our team to raise funds for covering some of the costs of running the team activities,” said the PRO.
Through the competition, she said the team sold as many tickets as possible costing P20 each and those who had bought tickets were entered into a draw to win one of the three prizes, being a cow for first prize, goat for second prize, and one night accommodation at Azania Guest House in Lobatse for third prize.
Mmolai said the club, which was formed in 2017 by Lawrence Nare, had around 40 players.
She said some of their players were part of the junior and senior national teams.
“As the only female football team in Lobatse, our objective is to empower the girl child through participation in sport,” said Mmolai.
In the draw held at the Pick’n Pay Shopping Centre, Otsile Sebua won the first prize, Pontsho Phuti won the second prize, while Ditiro Segang won the third prize. ENDS
