Peacemakers still in title chase - Leposo
04 May 2022
Peacemakers coach, Edward ‘Pro’ Leposo, is hopeful that his team will qualify for Premier League promotional playoffs.
Although his team played to a 0-all draw with Calendar Stars in a Debswana First Division North league, Monday, Leposo said, ‘looking at the log, it is a point gained because now we have reduced the margin between us and the second-placed Eleven Angels to just three points which put us in a good stead for playoffs position.”
Peacemakers are on the third spot with 25 points from 17 games, 12 points behind log leaders Nico United and three points behind Angels.
Although the draw resuscitated Peacemakers’ plans of a promotional playoffs position, coach Leposo thought his team was blunt upfront and would need two or three strikers when the transfer window opens.
“The team is fine from the goalkeeper to the midfield…we are lacking on finishing,” Leposo said.
Leposo also said if and when he failed to qualify for playoffs, he would work on the team to ready it for the 2022/23 season where he would challenge for FDN league honours.
As for Calendar Stars who believe they could have amassed maximum points, a draw away was two points lost.
“Looking at the chances we had, I would say it is two points lost. I mean we had simple chances to just tap in and hence I feel we should have gained more than just a point,” said Calendar Stars coach Vincent Chikumba.
Stars have now leapfrogged Sankoyo Bush Bucks whose Wednesday game against Tafic was postponed to allow the latter to compete in the Orange FA Cup.
Stars have a single goal difference while Bush Bucks have a negative three goals. ENDS
