Music has been described as a career that can help in creating jobs especially among the youth. This was said by MP for Tonota Mr Pono Moatlhodi at the launch of Dilemo tsa Bocha Gospel Choir and all night music festival in Tonota on Saturday.
In addition, Mr Moatlhodi said music united people, entertained, educated and was also therapeutic.
Therefore, he encouraged Batswana to choose music as career if they have the passion so as to improve their living standards.
Mr Moatlhodi said government had spent more funds in the fight against COVID-19, something he said had depleted government coffers.
This, he said meant that Batswana should assist government in creating jobs especially in the creative industry. “You also have a part to play in the fighting unemployment in this country, “he added.
Mr Moatlhodi, said many people had made profit and improved their living standards through music hence the importance of taking it to higher level.
Giving an overview of the choir, Patrick Gaborekwe of Dilemo Tsa Bocha Gospel Choir said the choir was formed among others to eliminate and fight poverty, heal souls, and preach God’s gospel.
“We also bring hope to the hopeless and restore calmness, peace, comfort, stability to the broken hearts,” he added.
Tonota West Councillor Andy Boatle commended Dilemo Tsa Bocha Gospel choir for changing lives of many through music.
He underscored the fact that gospel music has the power to heal and appealed to residents of Tonota to join and support the choir. ends
