20 Apr 2022
Local choral music group Puzzle Sounds will on Friday stage Chiwele musical concert at Maitisong Theatre with the aim to revive choral music post COVID-19.
The story of Chiwele will be an ensemble by two local choirs Puzzle Sounds and Andante Chorus alongside Dolce Voce Entertainment choir from South Africa.
The concert directed by Andrew Kola of Mophato Dance Theatre is expected to bring vibrancy and fun as the production will deviate from the traditional rendition of notes.
“As a new choir in the scene we want to instill diversity in the choral music by telling folktales in a vibrant and fun way that appeals to the modern audience,” said Kenny Rakgano of The Music Puzzle.
Rakgano said the music concert, which is a first for Puzzle Sounds, is expected to show direction for the choral industry post COVID-19.
She expressed hope that the concert would set the tone for the local industry to stage more shows.
Rakgano further said the concert would give Puzzle Sounds an opportunity to learn from Andante Chorus as they have been in the game for a while.
She said as a community choir, Andante had a lot to offer to new choirs as they aspired to grow choral music in Botswana.
Rakgano also said their wish was to establish cultural exchange with Dolce Voce Entertainment to strengthen choral music relationship between the two countries.
Tickets for Chiwele are available at Web tickets, ranging from P150 for a standard ticket and P300 VIP as well as P500 for corporate.
Rakgano explained that the VIP and corporate tickets included finger foods and drinks as well as seating arrangementg for a better view.
In addition, she said the corporate package, which was 10 tickets, would allow the holders to set up stalls. ENDS
