Tafic pocketed three points after walloping Maun Terrors 2-0 in a Debswana First Division North league encounter in Francistown on Saturday.
Tafic started the game on a high note and were evidently looking for three points.
Maun Terrors goal minder had a hectic game as Tafic endlessly knocked at his goalposts.
Tafic aka Matjimenyenga created many scoring opportunities though most were wild.
However, they were forced to make substitution on the eleventh minute due to injury; Mojadi Maripe came in for Motseotile Elijah.
Maun Terrors also put some effort and their 37 minute goal was ruled offside.
Tafic’ Godknows Mutina opened the scoring sheet in the second half.
The hosts gained momentum after the goal and they continued mounting pressure on the opponents until Murirwa scored another one to extend Tafic’s lead.
Sensing victory, Matjimenyenga side continued to search for more goals creating scoring opportunities but their efforts were unrewarding.
Maun Terrors made double substitution taking out Mmoloki Sheto and Fredrick Motukwa replacing them with Kearabile Dikowa and Edwin Shorti with a hope to neutralise Tafic middle field.
About 10 minutes before the final whistle, Tafic switched Mompoloki Xhaubayi and Mutina replacing them with Godfrey Seabelo and Chaninuka Chaminuka respectively.
Speaking in an interview, the winning coach, Andrew Taolo, said he was happy with his side’s performance. He attributed Tafic’s victory to training and hard work.
The coach further said their log position was not the good, hence the need to focus on mental strength.
‘If we focus on position, we are not going to improve, but we must focus on winning games and we will move from that position,’ he said
Tafic hoped that Miscellaneous in tenth place would lose, but the latter played a goalless draw against Chadibe and maintained its position with 15 points from 14 games.
For his part, Maun Terror coach, Oarabile Batang, said his team played well, despite the two goals.
“I cannot blame the boys, they did their part, the players worked hard and we cannot blame them,” he said.
He said they needed to score goals and refrain from rushing balls.
Batang said they had to be composed to ensure that they connected.
“We play and defend well even though we are conceiving, but if we score goals we can come back,” he said.
He said the slippery ground did not help, as it was drizzling, making it difficult to play.
Batang said their log standing was not good and needed to be fixed.
In other encounter played on Saturday, Nico continued with their winning streak by beating Calendar Stars 2-1.
Nico are leading the log with 34 points after played 14 games.
Santan Green and Green Lovers ended goalless while Sankoyo Bush Bucks beat Peace Makers 1-0. ENDS
