Tough first division fixtures this weekend

Sankoyo Bush Bucks will be hoping to attain a second spot in the log standings when they host Peacemakers in the Debswana First Division North league fixture billed for Maun Sports Complex tomorrow.
Sankoyo are in position four with 19 points after registering a morale boosting 1-0 victory against their rival Maun Terrors last weekend.
On one hand, Peacemakers defeated Motlakase 1-0 and now 10 points behind log leaders Nico United.
Both Sankoyo and Peacemakers are eager to continue with their impressive performance to boost their campaign.
Sankoyo vice chairperson, Sekai Morotsi, said in an interview that the game would be tough though he was convinced of his team’s ability to rise to the occasion.
He said the boys would go into the playground with a weakened defence since two of their key defenders had been red carded.
However, he expressed hope that the team would continue where it left off last weekend.
Morotsi pointed out that they were expecting a tough battle against the Bobonong side given that Peacemakers defeated them 2-0 in the first round.
“I know it’s not easy, but we are prepared to take on Peacemakers which is two points ahead of us. We need to work hard because we know that winning will bring confidence for the rest of the season,” he added.
Winning the weekend encounter will see Ngurungu climbing to second spot and this will be dependent on the outcome of the encounter between Eleven Angel and Motlakase Power Dynamos on Sunday.
For his part, Peacemakers public relations officer, Gaboitsiwe Ntlotlang said his side was unfazed by Sankoyo.
He said they needed a victory to maintain their log status.
“We are coming to Maun to collect our three points even though some of our key players in the likes of Ronnie Leagetse are on injuries but we are hopeful that they will recover before the game,” he added.
However, he said the team would be without head coach, Kelebogile Dingalo, who was recently suspended pending investigations.
But, Ntlotlang was quick to point out that the suspension of the coach had not dampened players’ spirit. Currently, he said they had appointed Stanford Ntime as an interim coach who will be working closely with the technical director. Another interesting encounter will be between Francistown giants, Tafic and Maun Terrors.
Both teams are facing relegation and their encounter is a must win.
Terrors are the last on the log while Tafic are in the 11th spot with nine games to go.
Tafic played to a two-all draw against Terrors in the first round.
On other encounters, Nico United will face Calender Stars at Caledron grounds, Miscellaneous welcome Chadibe at Serowe Sports Complex while Santa Green take on Green Lovers at Botswana Railway stadium. ENDS
