15 Mar 2022

- Notwane secured three points after thrashing Morupule Wanderers 3-2 in a premier league match in Lobatse on Sunday.

The game started on a slow pace with both teams failing to score despite the opportunities created.

Wanderers’ Thabiso Bante header in the 21st minute changed complexion of the game as Daniel Nare’s charges gained momentum and took control of the game.

The goal appeared to have reminded both teams why they were in the field as they started creating scoring opportunities.

Joseph Pyele scored Notwane’s equaliser on the 34th minute. Five minutes later, Wanderers registered their second goal through Comfort Dikupa.

Notwane’s Emanuel Nlu equalisied again for his side on the 64th minute to make it 2-2.

Thaloba Nthaga’s boys were awarded a penalty on the 69th minute and Botshelo Mafoko scored it.

Bafana ba Magala could not believe that the table had turned as most of the time, they looked like the better side and their coach was given a yellow card on the 72nd minute for his constant reminder to the referee to up his game.

In a post-match interview, Notwane’s head coach,  Nthaga indicated that it was not an easy game, noting that they did not start well and the opponents made it difficult for them with long balls.

However, he said he was impressed by his side as they managed to come back in the second half and eventually emerged victorious.

“Our attitude and patience played a pivotal role in our success,” he said.

He highlighted that there was room for improvement in his team but he said that their aim was to secure three points on the day.  “The boys did not lose hope even though we did not start well, I liked their character,” he added.

Nthaga explained that they would fight with everything they got to avoid relegation.

For his part, Bafana ba Magala’s coach, Daniel Nare indicated that he was not happy with how the referee managed the game. ENDS
