Letshwiti new boxing treasurer

01 Mar 2022

Botswana Boxing Association (BOBA) endorsed Refilwe Letshwiti as its treasurer during a general assembly on Saturday.

During the last elective assembly, the post of treasurer was not filled.

BOBA president, Gilbert Khunwane, informed delegates that the executive committee, in line with Article 40, sub section 40.2.2 in the boxing constitution had co-opted Letshwiti, but needed memebers’ approval.

Khunwane also informed the assembly that Letshwiti left for United States on February 4 for a four-month course.

Consequently, they temporarily appointed the former treasurer, Frank Chikutsi until the return of Letshwiti.

On other issues, Khunwane said as part of preparation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) had allocated four slots to boxing.

He said the technical department had therefore selected Rajab Mohomed, Treasure Moremi, Aratwa Kesemang and Lethabo Modukanele.

He, however, said the team might change due to other reasons.

Khunwane said the boxers together with Kobamelo Molatlhegi, George Molwantwa, Solomon Lere, Pheki Bele and Poloko Gabolekane were called for a camp, which started on January 30.

At the end of the camp, he said three boxers, Modukanele, Molatlhegi and Mahommed who were Zebra Fund beneficiaries continued with the training.

He said the three were in Mozambique for a one week training camp and were expected to compete in a tournament.

Talking about BOBA awards, Khunwane said Debswana had committed to sponsor for 2019-21.

He said BOBA board had therefore decided to combine the stated years after failing to conduct the 2019 event because there was little action due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ENDs
