Letlhakane sports complex project ongoing

Construction of Letlhakane sports complex is reported to be going well.
The project is funded by Lucara Botswana at the tune of P35 million.
Briefing Boteti sub-council session recently, chairperson Molemi Galeragwe said the initial contract was terminated for non-performance.
He said the substitute contractor, TKM Engineering was engaged in November 2021 to complete the project.
Galeragwe said the project included the perimeter wall, ablution blocks, change rooms, as well as civil and earth works.
The project is expected to complete on April 30.
Furthermore Rakops community mini stadium also suffered a similar hurdle, as the contractor who was engaged to construct the boundary wall was terminated for non-performance. Mr Galeragwe said the project was at 70 per cent.
Galeragwe said the mini stadium was funded by Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Development at the tune of P35 million.
He added that the project was divided into three components being construction of the boundary wall, change rooms and market stalls.
Additionally, Galeragwe said the project had suffered a series of vandalism and theft incidents between November 2021 and January 2022.
He said security personnel had been engaged until March 31 at the cost of P34 552.56.
Galeragwe said consultations were ongoing with Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Culture Development to map a way forward for completion of the remaining works.
He said some of the proposed developments will include an access road to the facility. Ends
