Motocross champs off to great start

Organisers of the first round of the Gaborone Motorclub (GMC) motocross national championship have described the event as a great success.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, which opened the motorsport calendar at Melo Park near Oodi on Saturday, GMC spokesperson, Kagiso Stephens, said they were impressed with the results and the overall participation of young riders.
He said the race, which was held in a new track, was divided into categories including minnows and done on a circuit.
In the premier class MX 1, Wade Den was impressive in his two loops coming first ahead of John Kelly and Anton Hennkson in the second and third spot respectively.
In the MX 125, Tabona Tafa arrived first ahead of Zameer Bodhanya. In the MX 65, class Dupreez Pretours beat Lourens Erasmus to the first spot.
In the MX vets, Wayne Pieterse arrived ahead of Geoff Den.
Seth Meyer beat Jordan Maloba and Nisa Deb in their second heat in the MX 85 class while Deoyle Boyes had no competitor in the MX 50 class.
GMC vice chairperson, John Kelly, revealed plans for this year.
He said they would once again host two championships; motocross and off road challenge.
The second round of the off road challenge is billed for March in Metsimotlhabe. Ends
