Sankoyo will bounce back - vice chairperson

20 Feb 2022

Sankoyo Bush Buck vice chairperson, Sekai Morotsi, is optimistic that his side will secure a slot in the elite premier league.

He said in an interview that the boys were in a good mood and working hard to succeed.

The team recently lost three gifted players who left for greener pastures.

However,  Morotsi stated that they had managed to sign three quality players to beef up the team.

He cited the return of Owen Bahumile and Godfrey Sebolao saying they had added value to the squad.

Bahumile who once played for Under 20 national team joined first division side from Delta Winds while Sebolao was from Sankoyo’s rival, Maun Terrors.

Morotsi appreciated that Ngurungu had been in a winning streak.

“We have assembled a squad of highly gifted young players who are ready to compete and bring desired results. We wish to see Ngurungu boys returning to their glory days and be able to win games.

Although we know that it is not going to be easy but we want to do well and put ourselves in a good position,” he added.

Although, the Ngurungu boys succumbed to a 1-2 loss to the Serowe based Green Lovers, Morotsi noted that the loss did not dampen the boys’ spirits as they were determined and ready to perform to their best in the remaining games.

Currently, the team is in position six in the First Division North log standing with 14 points.

Morotsi appealed to supporters to rally behind the club as there was hope to advance to the premier league considering the boys continued sterling performance.

He acknowledged that some supporters had lost hope on the team but emphasized that if they could give the boys the necessary support, together they could pull off a victory.

Since Sankoyo relegated to the first division league in 2019, the club has been struggling to retain quality players due to financial constraints.

Before commencement of the league last year, the club management managed to sign nine new quality and affordable young players from Ngamiland region. Ends
