The ongoing Miss Global International 2021 beauty pageant competition which will run until the coronation in March is held virtually to observe COVID-19 protocols.
The pageant held hosted by Indonesia has attracted 84 participants from all over the world.
The current Miss Global Botswana 2021 Queen, Sakshi Bhargava is representing the country at the global spectacle.
The Miss Global international pageant aims to empower young women by providing them with a platform to speak up and make a difference.
It’s set to celebrate diverse cultural differences and the understanding that they are what differentiates the world.
Giving an update Ms Global Botswana Manager Michelle Gaelebale stated that Bhargava was expected to submit three video clips and two photo shoot portfolios in response to the request, which would be analysed and graded by judging panel in Indonesia.
The clips will also be used for public voting on the Miss Global International page.
“Video clips to be submitted include that of the pageantry walk, self-introduction, and the no make-up challenge to instil the value of natural beauty, and the kindness challenge to promote charity activities among participants,” she said.
Bhargava executed charitable responsibilities through her own foundation, Able Heart Foundation, which she started from the ground working with minor and elders living with disabilities.
Bhargava would also parade in two costumes, one for the final parade designed locally by Diddash Authentic and original fashion designers and the other, a national gown also designed locally by Kristin Carr Hartley, the Director of KC-H Fashion Designers, with Veluci Jewellery sponsoring her for all jewellery accessories needs.
Gaelebale also stated that Bhargava fitness clothing was provided by Berry Heart Creations and Valentine Sport shop.
“The Okavango delta and drilling going on up north inspired the concept of the national costume that I designed. I wanted to draw attention to various forms of beauty that are frequently overlooked by consumerism,” KC-H Fashion Designer Founder and Director stated.
She stated that the dress was made of leteise to showcase the Batswana cultural dress code, it also had patches of eland skin and vibrantly coloured brocade cloth to represent the country’s fauna and flora.
Nortex, Fours Cash and Carry, Petrol Hyper Botswana, Valentine’s Sport Shop and Minejex Enterprises, among many others, sponsored Bhargava in the international pageantry.
All activities for the pageantry were organised and coordinated by Diamond Academy Pageantry which also hold the pageantry’s licence.
Bhargava who described herself as a philanthropist, has been in the pageantry and modelling industry since she was 16 years old.
She was grateful for the help she received from all parties involved, as well as her family, particularly her mother.
“It is the assistance I receive that enables me to juggle and balance pageantry actions and my schoolwork well. I would be eternally grateful to my mother for the role she has played in my life.
She has always been interested in pageantry but has been unable to participate for various reasons; she is now doing it through me,” she said. BOPA
