Nico chase 21 gap mission
13 Feb 2022
Nico United are on track to opening a 21-point gap between them and closest tittle chasers, coach Botshelo Pelokgosi is adamant.
Speaking in an interview after Nico United swept aside Motlakase Power Dynamos 2-0 in a Debswana First Division North game, Pelokgosi said Nico were on course to accomplish their mission.
“Yeah, I believe we are on the right track. I’m saying this because I treat every game with the seriousness it deserves. I don’t focus on my opponents, but I believe that if I continue collecting maximum points they will help my course,” he added.
Nico opened their goal tally via Sawusani Mudimba in the 38th minute of the Saturday game.
Second half substitute, Morgan Gaseitsiwe extended Majombolo’s lead after beating an offside trap to head home in the 74th minute.
Hailing new signing Kabo Oletile as a free-role player, Pelokgosi said they realised that Motlakase aka Chouka-Chouka had left a gap on their right that allowed Nico’s left-back to manouvre with complete ease.
In many if not most instances, Oletile, a left-footer playing as a right winger, swept his crosses to the left of Majombolo’s attack where he would find Gothusang unmarked and raring to launch ferocious attacks.
Although Power Dynamos brought experience of Master Masitara, a former Nico striker, Kgololo Kgogobi, Gosegonna Molapisi and Thopho Motheng, coach Seithero believed his young boys needed guidance to prevail.
Masitara looked like a sniper assigned to bring down Nico in the first half, but was substituted in the second half to make way for young blood Meti Otsile.
In the first half, Power Dynamos looked like a boiler ready to dispense electricity, but their dispensation methods were not quite incisive.
Kgogobi looked like one ready to send Nico to the slaughter house, but his shots were easily collected by Koolopile Tshimologo.
Although Power Dynamos were ferocious in their appeals for penalties and against offsides, Seithero preferred not to talk about the referees.
In his view, the encounter was a game of two halves.
He may have lost the game 0-2, but the Power Dynamos coach believed his boys could have stolen it right in the eye of the hosts.
“Its unfortunate that we tried to kill the game with youngsters although experienced players couldn’t allow them space to adapt to the play,” said Motlakase coach.
Meanwhile in other First Division North League games played over the weekend, Chadibe played to a goalless draw with Peacemakers, Santa Green won 3-0 against Tafic, Calendar and Miscellaneous played 1-1 while Green Lovers beat Sankoyo 2-1. ENDS
