This year’s African Attire on Fleek Gaborone edition will add a twist to ensure that the event continues to appeal to the patrons.
Gaborone fleekers will on March 12 be treated to a new feature, Golden Experience, which will witness patrons donning the Xhosa apparel to celebrate and appreciate the culture.
“We have introduced the Golden Circle themed it with Xhosa wear to celebrate the Xhosa community living in our country,” explained the director of Colorful People Entertainment David Letshwiti alias 52.
He said his company did not only promote fashion but also informed and educated patrons on the different cultures and tribes found in Botswana.
Gaborone edition is among the four Africa Attire on Fleek events across the country, organised by Colorful People Entertainment. Xhosa people in Botswana are found in parts of the South East district in Manyana as well as in Mahalapye in the Central district.
“Our event promotes cultural exchange, and clothes being one element which people can exchange and gain knowledge about various cultures,” Letshwiti stated.
He said this gesture encouraged the youth to embrace and be proud of their culture, by wearing traditional attires. The Golden Experience tickets were sold for P300 for single and P600 for double in the first phase. The tickets which are limited are now going for P400 single whilst a double ticket is P700.
The Golden Circle will exclusively permit revellers in absolute Xhosa wears. The organisers made a deliberate move to have only patrons wearing Xhosa attire as they are trying to limit numbers to ease congestion in this circle as it is a mini VIP section with exclusive cash bar, seating arrangement, closer to the performance stage as well as photo booth.
“We want to give our patrons a memorable experience with this initiative,” said Letshwiti.
The African Attire on Fleek is scheduled for Grand Aria stadium in Tlokweng, and patrons will be treated to performances by Motlha, Dato Seiko, Ketz Johnson and South Africa’s Big Zulu, Kelly Khumalo, PJ Powers and Lesotho’s Malome Vector and various Djs.
The event would not be complete without the presence of the sensational Dr Vom whom patrons admire for his traditional dikhwaere rendition, and this year he will share stage with Ditiro Leero. ENDS
