Mokoke quits after revitalising Gunners

Wame ‘Pepezino’ Mokoke has quit his position as Extension Gunners head coach for the second time.
Gunners announced the departure of the young coach on Tuesday evening immediately after their 3-2 league victory over Prisons XI.
The club said Mokoke had received an offer from premier league rivals, Jwaneng Galaxy.
“We thank the coach for his time and role at Extension Gunners where he exhibited high level of vision, professionalism and passion for the team.
Though we are deeply hurt by losing him, we can only wish him well in his future endeavours as one of the young Batswana coaches with a bright future,” the club statement reads.
Mokoke returned for a second spell as Gunners head coach last year in November where he took over a team in all sorts of trouble after losing its first three matches without scoring a single goal.
His first match was an unlucky 1-0 defeat to BDF XI.
He then masterminded an impressive turn-around in performance. Gunners won seven and lost four of the 11 matches of his brief reign.
The most impressive was the recent 4-1 thumping of Police XI which ended the Jungle Kings’ domination over Gunners.
However, he was also at the receiving end of two heavy defeats to Galaxy and Sua Flamingoes.
Mokoke would take pride in that he managed to mould youthful Gunners forwards Kabelo Babusi, Odirile Lekoba, Kgotso Phuti and Anderson Makolontwana into a vibrant attacking threat.
Their combination with veteran Dirang Moloi, striker Pako Modikwa and rookie midfielder Omphile Vissage was a marvel to watch and a key reason for Gunners’ mini renaissance.
He left the team on position nine in the premier league with 21 points from 14 matches and loudly knocking on a top eight slot at the half way stage of the season.
The coach also had a brief tenure with Mapantsula towards the end of the 2019/20 season, but later left the club to first division club, Holy Ghost. ENDS
