Moloi orchestrates Police downfall

Extension Gunners’ veteran playmaker, Dirang Moloi, orchestrated Police XI’s downfall in a premier league game in Lobatse on Tuesday afternoon.
Gunners romped to an easy 4-1 victory over Police XI with two goals each from Kabelo Babusi and Odirile Lekoba.
The victory ended the Jungle Kings’ dominance over Mapantsula.
Police beat Gunners in five consecutive league matches dating back to 2018.
Playing in a ‘false nine’ position, Moloi, often referred to as ‘The Maestro’ dissected spaces behind the Police defence and dished passes for Babusi and Lekoba.
After Police missed early chances through Eliphas Nyambi and Hendrick Moyo, Gunners turned on the style and gave the visitors a run around in the first half.
Moloi dinked the ball behind Police centre-backs Tonderai Nyakuba and Kagiso Dithebe for Babusi to run through and open the scoring in the 15th minute.
Eight minutes later, Lesego Bosekeng, in the ‘ungle Kings goalposts, picked the ball from the net again after another goal orchestrated by Moloi.
The veteran midfielder exchanged passes with Babusi on the edge of the 18-yard area.
He then released Omphile Vissage with a clever pass behind the defence, who then squared for Lekoba to tap home.
The visitors’ normally strong defence was in disarray and Gunners missed more inviting opportunities through youngster Kgotso Phuti and Vissage.
Phuti shot straight at Bosekeng after being released by Moloi, while Vissage thundered his effort over the posts.
Gunners’ goalkeeper, Tumiso Mashakola, parried away a powerful shot from midfielder Joseph Joseph and tipped over a well taken free-kick from Ogomoditse
Sitang before Chicco Molefe reduced the deficit with a powerful shot in the 42nd minute.
However, Moloi laid in another pass for Lekoba to score his second of the match and restore Gunners two goal cushion in the 44th minute.
Babusi rounded off the deserved victory in the 75th minute after receiving another pass behind the defence and rounding the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.
Police coach, Maitumelo Letlamoreng, replaced midfielder Letumile Molebatsi with Karabo Kelatlhilwe early in the second half in an effort to wrestle back control of the match.
But Gunners continued to dominate the area with Vissage putting another sterling performance.
Gunners’ Thato Bolweleng also showed a lot of composure playing in an unaccustomed central midfield position.
Forty-year old centre back, Desire Bafana produced another commanding performance at the back and together with Percy More, they nullified any threat from the visitors’ attackers.
The victory moved Gunners to 18 points from 13 matches. They, however, remained on position 10.
Police on one hand remained on position six with 21 points from 13 matches.
The Jungle Kings would take on Gilport Lions at Otse Police Stadium in their next match on Friday afternoon, while Gunners’ next match is against Prisons XI at
Otse Police Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. ENDS
