Orapa United came from behind to beat Sua Flamingoes 3-2 in a premier league game played at Sowa Town Council stadium on Tuesday.
Dominic Chungwa of Sua Flamingoes opened the scoring sheet for the hosts in the third minute of the first segment, which saw Sua Flamingoes supporters celebrating until recess.
Orapa United head coach, Mogomotsi Mpote must have had a magic pep talk with his boys as they returned a different and determined side.
The first few minutes of the second segment of the game saw the two mining teams displaying good football, until Orapa United’s Norman Mabaya took a well taken shot outside the box in the 17th minute and registered his side’s first goal.
As if that was not enough, Mbatshi Elias received a telling cross from the talented Omaatla Kebatho and increased Orapa’s lead in the 26th minutes of the second half.
Following the second goal, tables turned around and Orapa United dominated the game, creating chances, but failing to convert.
However, in the 36th minute Mbatshi took a well and calculated long range shot that saw Sua Flamingoes’ goalkeeper, Kenneth Mmoko remain beaten.
With eight minutes to the final whistle, Ngwako Ramakgathadi slotted in Sua Flamingoes’ second goal, before referee, Joshua Bondo called it a day.
Sua Flamingoes’ head coach, Rahman Gumbo said the loss was a learning curve for his boys.
He said the first half belonged to them and the boys managed to create chances, but failed to utilise them.
Gumbo said his team was also in control of the second half, but were totally demoralised after the visitors’ second goal and they lost the fighting spirit.
Coach Mpote said though it was a tough and away game, they made it and managed to get the three points.
Mpote said Sua Flamingoes had a good fighting spirit for winning, but the gods of football were not on their side this time around.
“First half was a block from all our departments and we failed to register any goal and we conceded the goals that were a giveaway,” he said.
Sua Flamingoes dropped to the seventh spot with 10 points, having played six games, winning three, losing two and drawing one, while Orapa United now occupy third position with 13 points, having played six games, won four, drew one and lost one. ENDS
