Ndaboka Bengani aka DJ Laninah Benz is one of the inspirational local female Djs leading the way for other fellow women to join the industry.

DJ Laninah Benz who has been spinning the decks is currently collaborating with Kopanong FM in Zeerust  in South Africa to host a ground breaking feature show dubbed BW Urban hits 5.

The show, aired every Thursday evening is a token of appreciation by the Kopanong FM management to Batswana followers and has been set as a platform that will assist local artists gain exposure and penetrate the South Africa music market.

The talented 28-year-old Dj said the collaboration kicked-off in August this year, and focused on playing different genres produced by Botswana artistes.  The show has so far featured interviews with local artists like Kwasa-kwasa star Franco, Skelem key family, Una Sell and several other Djs to get an insight of their lifestyles in the industry.

The Nkange born Dj said she was scouted by Kopanong Management through social media after a series of follow ups of her self-recorded videos.

“What started off as entertainment to give people a break from the COVID-19  gloom gave me some international recognition.  During the country’s first lock down, I used to emulate professional Djs such as Zinhle and Cndo and shared with my followers on Facebook the self-recorded videos. The management at Kopanong FM was impressed hence the offer,” she said.

Dj Laninah Benz believed the essence of creativity and humility she displayed as she interacted with more than 8 000 followers on her Facebook page: DJ Laninah Benz earned her some recognition.

She said in 2013 she enrolled for a part time course at YDJ academy in Gaborone to enhance her skills while she also served as a guest Dj at RB2 for the night crawler show.

Dj Laninah Benz’s colourful trail in the industry include sharing the stage with international artists such as Ugandan comic own Kansiime Anne, the late  Zimbabwean legend Oliver Mtukuzi, Naak Musik, Vusi Nova, Letta Mbuli both from SA.

Locally she performed at Hamptons Jazz festival in 2016, Hotties soccer tournament in 2016, and Avani’s Soul Food comedy.

She has also worked with Dj Sly, T Man, NT Base, Lady K and Sereetsi and the Natives. ENDS
