Extension Gunners lose again

21 Nov 2021

Extension Gunners continued their losing streak in the Premier League with a 0-1 defeat to BDF XI in Lobatse on Saturday evening.

BDF striker, Thabo Metlhayotlhe, settled the closely contested match with a neatly taken penalty kick midway through the second half.

Gunners, sitted at the bottom of the log, have lost all their four matches of the campaign.

However, with new coach, Wame Mokoke in charge, the team showed a lot of improvement.

They matched their opponents for possession throughout the game.

Gunners attackers; Percy Moeng, Kabelo Babusi, Omphile Visage and Anderson Makolontwane were vibrant and managed to cause some problems for the likes of Thabiso Khunwane, Onkabetse Seforo, Pelontle Lerole and Othusitse Mpharitlhe in the BDF XI defence.

The only thing they lacked was quality passes around the box.

Gunners defence, which was well protected by defensive midfielder, Mosimanegape Ntwaetsile, managed to nullify the threat of BDF XI dangerous forwards; Metlhayotlhe, Serati Semadi and Godfrey Tauyatswala.

Metlhayotlhe headed inches wide in the only clear opportunity of the first half in the 16th minute with Gunners goalkeeper Tumiso Mashakola beaten.

Gunners thought they had taken the lead eight minutes into the second half after Moeng tapped in a pass from Babusi, but the goal was ruled offside.

BDF XI nearly opened the scoring in the 60th minute, but a well taken shot by midfielder Godiraone Modingwane was cleared off the goal line by defender Percy More.

However, Metlhayotlhe stroked in the spot-kick in the 72nd minute to seal victory for BDF XI after Gunners centre back Lawrence Radikgageng clipped down substitute striker, Oratile Taunyane inside the penalty area.

Matebele have now collected seven points from four matches.ends
