Sankoyo Bush Bucks ready for league start

Sankoyo Bush Bucks have unveiled nine players as part of preparations for the commencement of Debswana First Division North League.

The club vice chairperson, Sekai Morotsi, told a press conference in Maun Tuesday that efforts were made to sign quality and affordable young players who would bring desired results.

Although they started training late because of the COVID-19 vaccination issues, Morotsi appreciated that all players had taken their first dose and ready to take head on the newly promoted Chadibe Football Club this in Francistown this weekend.

He noted that a recent tournamen, which was aimed at testing the players’ fitness, had given them hope of a strong squad.

Morotsi stated that they had struck a one-year technical sponsorship deal with one of the growing sportswear companies, Evolia Sportswear, based in Tonota.

He said their partnership package included 100 replica shirts, two kits for home and away games, training and travelling kits. 

He thanked the company for coming to their rescue noting that the club struggled for a long time without technical sponsorship.

Morotsi further noted that their agreement was flexible as there was provision that once both parties were satisfied with the partnership, they could extend it.

He said as leadership, they were ambitious to trace their roots to the elite league adding that if they could fail to be promoted this season, they were hopeful that in the next season they would secure a spot in the premier league.

Morotsi admitted that the club had lost quality players since they got relegated, but stated that they were grooming and developing youngsters who would eventually become football stars.

However, the club also ushered Baganetsi Kamanakao as the new chairperson following the resignation of Itumeleng Kelebetseng. 

The incoming chair vowed to strive hard to put their house in order in an effort to change the image of the club. 

He stated that he would firstly focus on bringing more soccer fanatics to beef up his committee which he said was not intact

He also vowed to resuscitate the membership drive and enhance their collaboration with the supporters club.

 In addition, he pointed out that he would strive hard to ensure annual general meetings were held so that members could adopt the amended constitution.

Kamanakao said the constitution was amended to includ the business wing. 

He appealed to companies, and individuals to come forth and support the club financially in order to claim the premier league spot. 

He acknowledged that some of the companies, which supported the cub had been hard hit by the effects of COVID 19 pandemic and hoped they would recover and continue with the assistance. ends
