Masaseng star continues to rise

Hard work, commitment and resilience have earned Kgosana Masaseng yet another top post at an international organisation.
Masaseng was appointed a member of the global International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) Membership Development and Accountability System (MDAS) committee at the ongoing FIFPRO elective congress in France.
In September, Masaseng was appointed deputy secretary of FIFPRO Africa during the 15th FIFPRO Africa congress in South Africa.
Masaseng, currently Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB) secretary general, said in an interview yesterday that he was happy to have been appointed, adding that this proved that members had confidence on him.
He said the main task of the MDAS committee was to oversee, monitor and evaluate performance of all football unions around the world to ensure they met FIFPRO requirements.
The committee, he said, was also charged with the responsibility to develop FIFPRO members by furthering the objectives of FIFPRO as set out in the statutes of FIFPRO.
Furthermore, he said through the MDAS committee, FIFPRO wanted to ensure that associations of professional footballers were influential in their respective countries to effectively fight for the rights and welfare of players.
Masaseng said Botswana would also benefit from his appointment given that being part of the leadership at FIFPRO level came with some opportunities such as learning from global best practices.
“As part of the assessment team, one should be able to suggest interventions based on the realities on the ground, which would mostly be tailor-made to the specific challenges faced by the players in Botswana,” he said. ends
