BFA motivates football dev.

16 Nov 2021

Botswana Football Association (BFA) has donated football kits and sport equipment to Chanoga and Thamalakane primary schools.

Speaking during the hand over ceremony on Sunday, BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti, said the donation signified the association’s commitment to  sport development.

He called for urgent attention to grassroots, adding that any nation, which did not invest in its youth had no vision.

Letshwiti appealed to Nhabe Regional Football Association to pay attention to football development by working hand in hand with primary schools.

“We should catch them young.  These youngsters are our diamond that needs to be kept shining all the time. As such, we should be seen nurturing them at a tender age because if we miss that step, it means we missed football development,” he stressed.

Letshwiti further urged the regional association to come up with initiatives that would develop talent in the region.

The region, he said, should pay attention to football development so as to produce heroes and heroines who would sell it to the world.

Thamalakane school head, Merwalo Mokgedi, thanked BFA for extending a helping, noting that the donation would inspire pupils to take part in sporting activities.

Participation in sport, she said, was also a motivation for them to like school and work harder in their studies.

Northern block chairperson, Tshegofatso Balisi, also thanked BFA for the noble gesture and promised that indeed efforts would be made to visit schools to unearth talent.

Partnership, he said, would grow football. He acknowledged BFA’s positive response to a plea for a mini stadium in Chobe region.

Balisi noted that the region managed to secure an 11.4-hectare piece of land and believed the infrastructure would help promote sports tourism in the region, that was commonly known for photographic tourism.

“We are blessed since the stadium will be constructed 10km away from the newly constructed Kazungula Bridge, which has become a centre of attraction,” he added. ENDS
