Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association (BOTESSA) has been applauded for its dedication in sports development.
Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) CEO, Wedu Motswetla, applauded the association during launch of its official website in Gaborone recently.
And, she said, the website was also in line with the country’s digital transformation strategy and the fourth industrial revolution.
Motswetla said BOTESSA recently hosted activities on digital platforms.
“Though global in nature and not exclusive to our nation, by looking at the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that we migrate our activities to digital platforms,” she said.
Furthermore, she said effective media relations was essential in every sports organisation, adding that BOTESSA website could be a highly targeted visual advertising tool for potential sponsors.
She said the website would market BOTESSA’s activities.
The organisation recently merged with Botswana Brigades Sport Association (BOBSA) thus increasing membership with 67 institutions.
“On behalf of BNOC and the sports community, we are committed to continue supporting BOTESSA in all students’ activities considering our common interest in sports development. We hope that the website will mark BOTESSA activities to the globe so as to keep users glued to the website,” she said.
BOTESSA president, Keorapetse Setlhare, expressed gratitude to the main sponsor, First National Bank Botswana (FNBB), for its commitment and partnership.
Setlhare said such partnerships were essential since they were aligned with the institution’s programmes whilst providing the much needed tools for operational purposes. Moreover, he stated that the website was inclusive and could be used by students with disability, thus going a long way to show the organisation’s commitment in sports development.
“This website will market BOTESSA activities and create better accessible content and news declination for its staff, students and others,” he said.
He highlighted that part of the information would include all its activities and upcoming events so as to attract an increased number of online users and raise the country’s flag high both regionally and internationally. ENDS
