Masitaoka will face Township Rollers in the Orange FA Cup semi-finals scheduled for Francistown on December 4-5.
Molepolole-based Masitaoka earned themselves space in the semi-finals after drubbing Calendar Stars 3-1 in the quarter finals in Francistown while Rollers walloped Mahalapye BR Highlanders 4-0 in Tlokweng.
Masitaoka coach, Nelson Olebile, said in an interview after the Saturday game that they registered a win, despite the mistakes his team committed.
“I must be fair, Calendar Stars have improved and scoring three goals in a cup tournament is motivational,” he added.
He said he divided the game into phases though they missed a couple of chances due to lack of fitness.
Calendar Stars coach, Vincent Chikumba, accepted the defeat, saying that the team had not been training for a while.
“We only had four weeks to prepare ourselves for this game,” he said.
Chikumba said his team started the game on a high note that earned them an own goal through Masitaoka captain, Basiamisi Sebapalo.
It was evident that both teams were looking for a win, but lady luck was not on Calendar Stars’ side.
Masitaoka’ s second goal came through Walter Mukanga in the 60th minute via a free kick outside the 18 metre box.
Masitaoka’s last goal came through talented Emmanuel Ditodi who was a marvel to watch throughout the game.
Calendar Stars’s Yashe Dambe was also one of the players that stole the hearts of spectators throughout the game.
He played tactfully showing great ability in chest trapping and passes, which earned him the man of the match award thus pocketing P1 500 and P500 airtime voucher.
Chukumba said Dambe had a bright future provided things go as planned such as playing in one of the top premier league teams.
Dambe said he was happy to have been selected the man of the match despite his team having failed to advance to the semi-finals.
However, he said this was a learning curve for his second division side, ascribing their loss to lack of fitness.
Meanwhile, in another semi-final clash, Gaborone United will lock horns with Jwaneng Galaxy. ENDS
