The Ministry of Basic Education wishes to advice parents to take particular care of parents during the winter period. A press release from the ministry says schools and parents are reminded of the need for learners to keep warm and avoid catching cold viruses. 

“For that reason, schools have been advised to relax uniform requirements to allow learners to dress warmly for the cold weather. That means wearing a hat (beanie), coat or a tiny fleece blanket, scarf, gloves and any item for warmth. 

Learners are encouraged to wear shades/colours close to those of their school uniform where possible. Schools should exercise compassion and consideration for learners and allow them to dress warmly, says the press release. 

The press release further says any learner suffering from or displaying symptoms of flu/common cold should not go to school and must seek medical treatment immediately. ends
