OP closes for two-day COVID-19 disinfection testing
25 Jan 2021
The Office of the President (OP) is closed for two days, beginning January 25, for COVID-19 disinfection and staff testing, according to a press release.
The release explains that the office is expected to reopen tomorrow and that during the period of closure, normal services will continue to be provided by staff working from home.
It says the closure is out of abundance of caution following the detection of positive COVID-19 status among some staff members and the subsequent enhancement of safeguards to prevent possibilities of the spread of infection.
Disinfection procedures and COVID-19 tests on all OP staff members make it imperative to close the office as both a safeguard against disinfectants and the necessary comprehensive screening before resumption of occupancy, says the release.
It states that further assessment will be made before staff resume duty tomorrow.
“Any inconvenience caused by the closure of the Office of the President during the days mentioned is greatly regretted,” says the release.
The release advises the public to remain calm since the measures being taken are essentially out of precaution and not indicative of any situation of undue cause for alarm.
It further reminds the public to continue adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols that include wearing of masks, social distancing, washing of hands and where possible, sanitizing.ends
