Fashionistas will have an insight of the latest trends as Modern Tswana Fashion Week will be holding a fashion show dubbed My Fashion night out slated on November 6-7 at Yarona Country Lodge

In an interview, founder and organiser of the event, James Chikumo said the fashion show in its seventh year running, aimed at promoting African and urban fashion designers and to give them exposure.

He said the show also intended to promote traditional dress code and incorporate it with latest fashion inclinations.

Chikumo also said the fashion show was meant to give individuals fashion sense, enlightening that some people struggled to choose befitting outfits for occasions, either those held at night or during the day. 

“I hope this fashion show will make a difference since participants will be allowed to interact with designers who will attend and learn more about fashion aspects,” he said.

Chikumo noted that due to COVID-19 safety measures, the show would be held partly virtual and live, adding that those who would not be able to attend the live event, would connect through their Instagram and Youtube accounts.

He further noted that Modern Tswana Fashion Week was an annual event and since its inception in 2017, they had managed to hold two shows in a year.

“Since 2017, we have managed to hold a total of six fashion shows, one in 2017 and three were held in 2018 per different seasons in a year while last year we had two shows and this year we have only had one and will be followed up with the one billed for this coming weekend,” she said.

Chikumo further noted that they worked collectively with urban label designers such as Ideal Jeans, Marplo closet and Urban Soul among others.

Additionally he worked with local fashion designers such as Veron Wear, Sparkle Jewellery Designs, Chevha Couture, Yusuf Clothing Line and Millery Miller Designers. ENDS
