Balaakgosi releases album

Balaakgosi II’s 12-track album dubbed Sekondomboro is making rounds in the local entertainment circles.

Born Bateng Motswetla in Tonota, Balaakgosi II revealed in an interview his flexibility to create works that goes with the mood.

“Through my music, I can express any mood, be it a happiness or sadness. When it comes to traditional music I have no limits or comfort zones,” he said talking about his album that hit shelves in April 2020. 

Balaakgosi II’s finesse can never be second guessed. He is undoubtedly in the right direction of being titled the pioneer of traditional music. 

His album Sekondomboro evokes emotions, as it talks about the beauty of a woman.  It also promotes love and the importance of a woman in a day to day life. 

“A woman is a lady of the house. She takes care of the family, focuses on children and their happiness. She performs the all roles in the family at the same time,” he said.

There is also a classic feel of Last Chitambo’s voice from Zimbabwe, featured in the Matshwaro, which describes the beauty of a women with the modernistic feel making it interesting and great listen as well.

Other songs like Njelele, talks about asking rain from the ancestors. Badisa ba Lorato and Lorato la lerankana talks about love. Other songs raise awareness on different issues. A teacher by profession Balaakgosi draws inspiration from his grandmother who raised him and draws his rich Setswana language from her. ENDS
