Slow progress irks councilors
27 Aug 2020
Serowe Administrative Authority (SAA) councilors have aired concerns about slow implementation of Community Constituency Projects (CCP).
The councilors made their comments on August 24 following presentation by SAA council Economic Planner, Ms Dimpho Makgathi at the on-going sub-council meeting in Serowe.
They said although the CCP was promising when it started, the programme was now marred by poor planning and implementation; something they stated got them and the electorates worried.
Presenting the progress report before councilors early on, Ms Makgathi said for the 2017/18 financial year, 80 projects out of a total of 97 were 100 per cent complete while the remaining 10 were at different stages of completion.
Furthermore, SAA Economic Planner stated that for the financial year 2018/19, 47 projects were completed, while 11 others were ongoing.
“A total of 475 local artisans and contractors were engaged for the 2017/18 financial year, 345 for the 2018/19 whilst 18 were employed for the 2019/2020 period,” she said. ends
