 Botswana Defence Force (BDF) has suspended its 43rd anniversary celebrations scheduled for the National Stadium from April 22-25.

A press release from BDF states that the decision was taken after assessing the current situation regarding COVID-19 containment measures.

The decision to cancel the BDF day anniversary celebrations, the release says, was also necessitated by deliberate cautionary measures to prevent possible contact with the virus by avoiding crowded areas.  The release also states that the BDF, in its mission of protecting Botswana’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and national interests will continue to collaborate with health officials and other stakeholders to determine support that may be needed in the coming days and weeks as the situation of the viral infection evolves.

Therefore, the BDF has urged the public to continue taking cautionary measures against COVID-19 as advised by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Ends
