Art fanatics are in for a treat this weekend as the Young Africa Botswana will be hosting San Diego-based graffiti artist and muralist, Daniel Hopkins aka Maxx Moses in celebration of Black History Month tomorrow.

Maxx Moses will be in Botswana for two weeks as part of the artist envoy programme hosted by the US Embassy to collaborate with local artists and to give talented Batswana an opportunity to refine their skills, sell themselves as well as learn and share Botswana’s creativity to the world.

Maxx Moses participated in numerous mural and educational workshops for all ages around the world including Zimbabwe in the past decade.

During his stay in Botswana he would collaborate with the local artist on two mural projects and a series of lectures and workshops throughout the country.

Maxx Moses’s work could be seen in Philadelphia PA, Washington D.C. Zimbabwe, Paris, Belgium, New York and many other countries.

In an interview, director of Young Africa Botswana, Jelena Mitrovic, said the initiative would foster cross-cultural understanding and to demonstrate shared values and aspirations.

“I urge everyone to come to this festival to learn and benchmark from experienced Maxx Moses for them to be able to have the mind-set of taking art as a business.

The creative industry is big in the US and it is time for Batswana youth to reap its benefits”, she said.

Meanwhile, the activities for the day include, live painting, art exhibition, mural competition, creative showcase, and other activities. ENDS
