Tsetsebjwe - Moletemane road among Lucas priorities

22 Jan 2020

Member of Parliament for Bobonong, Mr Taolo Lucas says he intends to advocate for tarring of Tsetsebjwe-Moletemane Road.

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Moletemane on Tuesday, Mr Lucas said, together with elected political office bearers in the area, he endeavoured to knock on doors of every relevant office to unlock icing developments for the constituency.

Mr Lucas said he was alive to developmental deficiency suffered by Moletemane, chief amongst them being the bumpy gravel road.

He said the terrain made accessing Bobonong difficult.

“The issue of your road is a very serious one though not difficult,” said the area MP.

Mr Lucas said residents needed a good road in order to enjoy developments.

He stated that for development to reach Moletemane, there ought to be a tarred road providing easy access to the village.

The legislator informed the electorate that he presented the road matter to Minister of Transport and Communications who had asked for time to acquaint himself with the issue before he could respond.

Mr Lucas said a 19km-road should be tarred instead of paving.

He stated that a tarred road was durable, but the same could not be said by a paved one.

He also said funds allocated for the paving of the road was allegedly enough to tar the same.

Mr Lucas also expressed misgivings that despite the construction of the road in question having been slated for June 17, 2019, nothing had moved since erection of boards that affirmed impeding works.

The Bobonong MP also spelt out the possible debilitating ramifications of the rumoured relocation of Richmark Chicken Company from the farm neighbouring the village owing to poor roads that led to the village.

The village chief, Mr Boitumelo Garegae had earlier indicated that the company complained of having spent over P60 000 due to tyre bursts.

The kgosi feared that over 400 residents from his village and neighbouring ones stood to go unemployed if the company relocated due to bad roads.

In fact, the chief pledged his support to the area MP if the latter needed it to bolster his arguments at the higher echelons of power in order to get the road tarred.

Kgosi Garegae was vehement in his appeal for tarring of the road and complained that their vehicles wore off easily and did not last compared to those in areas that had tarred roads. ENDS
