The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has decided to reschedule the local government elections for the Boseja /Flowertown ward in Mahalapye East to November 23.

This comes after realisation that the Alliance for Progressive (AP) candidate was ommited from the ballot paper. 

Giving an update on the progress of the general election, whose voting process started this morning at 06:30, Mr Maroba said the IEC had to consult with the legal framework and an agreement was reached that a new date be set.

“It will give the commission time to include the ommitted candidate on the ballot paper,” he said.

Mr Maroba said what could have lead to the omission was that during the nomination process recording was done manually while it also entailed a lot of paperwork.  He said the paper somehow got lost and they could not tell how it went missing. ENDS
