UDC urges Takatokwane electorates to vote for change

16 Oct 2019

Leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) Advocate Duma Boko has urged the electorate in the Takatokwane Constituency to vote for UDC as it will usher in new developments that will change their lives for better.

Speaking during the launch of the UDC parliamentary candidate for Takatokwane constituency Mr Filbert Nagafela on Sunday, Mr Boko said the UDC government would address issues of poverty in the constituency as the initiatives to address poverty by the BDP government had not achieved their intended purpose.

He said they were determined to make sure that all their promises as outlined in the party manifesto were achieved when they take over government after the general elections on October 23.

Advocate Boko said the UDC was concerned and worried about the state of affairs and the standard of living of Batswana, the more reason why they were offering better alternatives for them.

He added that the Ipelegeng programme which pays  P560 shall in no way improve and better lives of Batswana.

He said the Ipelegeng workers were not given protective clothing during work which puts them in danger.

Advocate Boko said they would introduce the minimum wage of P3000 and P1 500 for Old Age pensioners which would afford Batswana to live better lives as the standard of living was expensive.

The UDC leader, therefore, urged electorates to make sure they ushered in the new government by voting Mr Nagafela and council candidates.

He said since Mr Nagafela had served the constituency before, he brings in a wealth of knowledge and experience in politics and development.

Advocate Boko cautioned them against infighting that could lead to party instability, advising them to be aware that they existed to serve Batswana and should thereby put the interest of Batswana first.

Mr Nagafela said he was determined to work tirelessly for the constituents and ensure they got a better share of developments.

He said he believed in the rights of people and he would strive to make sure their rights were respected.

Mr Nagafela further said he was not new to politics as he had worked before and managed to bring change in the constituency.

He said together with the councillors, they were determined to work hard for the constituency and bring change to the lives of people. ENDS
