BDP only party capable of moving country forward

14 Oct 2019

The President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has described Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) as a strong party that had been tried, tested and made Botswana what it is today.

Speaking at the launch of the BDP prospective parliamentary candidate for Serowe West, Mr Moemedi Dijeng and council candiates in Serowe on Saturday, President Masisi said BDP was the only party that could take Botswana forward hence the need for Batswana to vote for it in large numbers on October 23.

Dr Masisi said since its formation in 1962, BDP had positively touched Batswana in many ways and urged them to continue to vote for the BDP as it had their interests at heart.

He said BDP was the only organised party with a clear mandate, good reputation, a good track record and trustworthy.

In addition, he said, the party was democratic and committed to its constitution, adding that BDP members love peace, tranquility and truth.

President Dr Masisi said if voted into power his party would continue to deliver on its promises, noting that the party had huge plans that could change the country.

He appealed to BDP members to fight for their party to stay in power and advance its projected developments.

Dr Masisi highlighted the BDP understood the importance of consultation and it would continue to come up with bills and policies intended to uplift the lives of Batswana.

He urged all Batswana to vote for all BDP parliamentary and council candidates so that collectively they could continue on the transformation exercise.

President Dr Masisi said Mr Dijeng and council candidates were capable candidates who would advocate for developments in their constituency.

He said if the constituents voted for Mr Dijeng and councillors they would be automatically voting for him.

He said the opposition parties had failed to remove BDP from power and were not ready to lead the country.

He said the opposition parties had no proper manifestos because they copied the BDP manifesto.

The BDP parliamentary candidate for Serowe South, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse urged the BDP members to stay focused and not to be disturbed by anything.

Mr Autlwetse said that he was optimistic that Mr Dijeng would work with the constituents to develop Serowe West.

He appealed to Serowe West constituents to vote for BDP under the leadership of President Masisi because he had huge plans for Batswana and would drive the country to a good path of economic transformation and job creation.

Mr Autlwetse described the BDP leader as capable and qualified to drive his party’s manifesto.

Former vice president Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe urged Batswana to vote for BDP because it had pledged inclusive governance.

He said BDP had developed the country in many ways and Batswana should vote for it to get more developments. ENDS
