Show platform to explore talent

Masa Square Hotel Fashion Show scheduled for November 2 has been hailed as a platform for designers to get the exposure they need.
Briefing the media on the preparations for the show, Masa Square Hotel sales and marketing executive, Botho Mogami said the fashion show has proved to open doors for designers who aspire to showcase at big fashion shows around the world.
He indicated that as an establishment, they strive to grow the fashion industry and improve the creative industry in Botswana.
She noted that in the three years they have produced the fashion show, they organised talk factories with designers bringing in experts within the industry to come and share with local designers.
She also said they have held designer workshops where designers learnt fashion etiquette.
The fashion show is themed spotlight on Botswana, and the producer of the show, Jan Malan said the attention would be on interesting pieces about Botswana. He said the show would have 13 designers, with an entire local entertainment. He added that it was important to invest in such events as they gave designers an opportunity to be noticed in the international market.
Botswana Tourism Organisation marketing executive, Dawson Ramsden said the fashion show would come as a tool for promoting tourism. He said BTO has since diversified and showcased Botswana to the world through culture, people, fashion and lifestyle.
Ramsden indicated that they partnered with Masa Square Fashion Show in this regard; adding that they would be organising a photo shoot with all designers who would be showcasing in the show.
One of the designers who will be showcasing, Lesedi Matlapeng said the fashion show has helped elevate her brand and open doors for her. ENDS
