Major Moves Comedy nights are held every first Friday of the month as a platform for new standup comedians to get exposure and an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The Friday do promises another rib cracking lineup comprising both established and upcoming comedians.

The audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from a variety of comics given the lineup.

The show will feature resident host in Onkgopotse ‘Mdala Ka Tjeludo’ Mugende.

Others rib crackers are Bonginkosi ‘Dr Shakes’ Dlamini from Swaziland, Maatla ‘Ephraim’ Basha from Tlokweng, Ndiye ‘Triccs’ Tampa from Francistown, Malebogo ‘Lebo English’ Lekgowa from Medie and Lentle ‘Induna’ Makhwaje.

Events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy, Gaolathe Kediemetse said since introduction of monthly shows they have had favourable support from the public.

He said through the monthly events, they intend to build relations and exchange talent with other countries in a quest to create a sustainable market and continual artist development.

“We are excited to be hosting the monthly event for the eighth consecutive time this year. Although we struggle with sponsorship for our events, we are grateful for Masa Square Hotel in helping us develop this art form,” he said.

He also noted that as Major Moves, they wanted to develop and contribute positively to lives of the comedians so that they could be able to make a living off comedy like elsewhere in the world.

Meanwhile, as a way of exchanging talent, Kediemetse said Thapelo Malani recently performed in Zambia, while Triccs will be showcasing in Swaziland sometimes this month.

Brooks is penciled for Lesotho in November, while Lebo English will be featured in South Africa’s comedy show in December.

Swaziland’s Dr Shakes is said to be excited to be performing in Botswana after performing in big events such as Kings of Funny and the Swaziland International Comedy Festival.

As for Lebo English, Kediemetse said she was a firebrand in the local comedy circles and always delivered spectacular performances while Triccs started doing standup comedy in 2015 and his style of comedy was vernacular with a bit of intellectual comedy. ENDS
