Umbrella places Saleshando at Maun West

01 Oct 2019

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader Advocate Duma Boko has solicited Maun West constituents to vote for UDC parliamentary candidate Mr Dumelang Saleshando and some council candidates.

Speaking at the launch of UDC Maun West candidates on independence eve in Maun, Advocate Boko said Maun West constituents were lucky to be represented by Mr Saleshando, who is Botswana Congress Party (BCP) leader and an economist by profession.

He said Mr Saleshando was a pioneer in promoting jobs for Batswana under the UDC.

Further, Advocate Boko observed that the UDC needed all the three parties under its coalition to win elections.

He said the three parties stood for different issues affecting Batswana such as jobs, land and decent lives as  stated in their manifesto. Advocate Boko said once the UDC wins elections, it would introduce the P3 000 minimum wage, P1 500 for old age pension, P2 500 as tertiary scholars’ allowance and free sanitary towels for girl students.

As a way to fight corruption, Advocate Boko said the UDC party would also curb corruption and channel funds lost through corruption to developments.

For his part, Mr Saleshando said he would address poor academic results in the North West District if he was elected to Parliament as well as make pre-school accessible for all young children.

He also said he would reduce the high student-teacher ratio.

Mr Saleshando welcomed former North West District Council Commissioner Ms Bernadette Malala to the UDC fold.  ENDS
