Jacobs vows to address Lobatse challenges

23 Sep 2019

Independent prospective parliamentary candidate for Lobatse, Mr Kamaal Jacobs says he will push for land servicing and expedition of residential plot allocation if voted to Parliament on October 23.

Speaking during his launch on Sunday afternoon, Mr Jacobs raised a concern that the last serious allocation of residential plots in Lobatse was made a long time ago.

Allocation of plots in Lobatse is a big problem.

People from Lobatse these days go to other places like Molapowabojang to be allocated plots.

I wonder why they cannot be allocated plots here in Lobatse,” he said.

He said this lack of plot allocation happened while there was a big chunk of land behind the old Teacher Training College.

He said this land could produce around 3 000 plots.

“If you give me the opportunity to become your MP, I will push for plots to be allocated in Lobatse,” he said.

Mr Jacobs said there were many other challenges faced by people in Lobatse such as poor provision of health services.

He said patients went to Athlone Hospital from time to time without getting satisfactory treatment.

He further said unemployment, poverty and general lack of developments were many problems facing people in Lobatse, which he said he would address if he became MP.

Another speaker, former mayor of Lobatse, Ms Caroline Lesang, now vice president of Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF), said Lobatse constituency needed a competent leader like Mr Jacobs, who could help address challenges facing the area.

Ms Lesang said some challenges facing the constituency were lack of sewerage infrastructure in some parts of the town. Ends
