AP aims at improving livelihoods

Alliance for Progressives (AP) deputy leader, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, says his party will promote agriculture should it win the October 23 polls.

Mr Mmolotsi made the promise during launch of AP’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Boteti East, Mr Kabelo Tutwane in Letlhakane on recently.

He stated that the party’s plan was to establish milling machines, construct roads and install electricity in farms to enable Batswana to be productive and create employment opportunities.

He stated that the party planned to establish industries where resources were produced. 

Mr Mmolotsi noted that Boteti, as a mining area, could be having diamond-related industries.

All developments across the country, he said, were financed through proceeds from diamonds, but the people of Boteti had not befitted much.

The AP’s aim, he said, was to reduce the import bill, unemployment and poverty.  

Mr Mmolotsi cautioned Boteti East electorate against voting for people with potential to sell their land and natural resources, adding that a good leader could be easily identified by the people he/she associated with. 

He warned the people of Boteti against falling for empty promises, saying the current economic status could not afford some promises.

Francistown East prospective parliamentary candidate, Ms Theresa Mmolawa, said AP’s manifesto talked about a clean government, promoting transparency and uprooting corruption.

Ms Mmolawa said their intention was to create sustainable job opportunities.

She encouraged women to join the AP, saying it had set aside 50 per cent of party posts for women.

Ms Mmolawa said they would ensure that all Batswana owned a plots.

For his part, Mr Tutwane, said AP’s major objective was to transform the economy, stating that they intended to bring developments to Boteti.

Mr Tutwane implored the electorate to vote for leaders who had the capacity to develop the country.

Mr Lekgoa Balopi, AP’s Serowe West parliamentary hopeful said the people of Boteti had rallied behind the Botswana Democratic Party, which had since failed to meet their needs.

Mr Balopi said the time for change had arrived, stating that the AP’s aim was to establish a renewed Botswana. Ends
